A Bad Cold and Flu Season Calls for the Power of Steam Cleaning
If your home has already been hit by cold and flu season, brace yourself, it might not be over. This cold and flu season has proven to be particularly bad and many are saying it could be very severe. Today describes how bad cold and flu season is, “The latest report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that the flu is spreading across the country: Activity has increased in twelve states, compared to just seven last week. There was “high activity” of flu in four states: Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas. And it’s still just the beginning of the season. Dr. William Schaffner, who is involved in the CDC’s flu surveillance network in Tennessee, has noticed cases of influenza picking up “dramatically.”Even worse, it appears the dominant strain will be H3N2, which can produce more severe illness, said Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center…“It is possible that we will experience low vaccine effectiveness against influenza A (H3N2) viruses and a relatively severe influenza season if they predominate,” Fauci and colleagues wrote in an article published recently in the New England Journal of Medicine.”
Washing hands and protecting against germs is always important but is not fool proof – people still get sick because they do not realize how often they touch dirty, germ-filled surfaces and then touch their face or mouth which can lead to infection. We track the outside world’s germs into our own homes and they quickly set up residence. And, cold and flu season can spread and penetrate a school in no time because children are not particularly cautious with the spread of germs. Schools, hospitals, daycares, and homes can all benefit from the cleaning power of a steam cleaner to reduce the risk of infection during cold and flu season (and all year long!).
Household cleaning products, even those labeled ‘green’ or eco-friendy’, are often filled with harsh chemicals. They leave behind an invisible chemical residue on surfaces that can actually create what is known as a “biofilm” that traps bacteria under a chemical residue and allows it to grow and spread, becoming harder and harder to clean. Cleaning with a steam cleaner is the fast, efficient, cost-effective, and best option for cleaning and disinfection during cold and flu season. With just water, a steam cleaner can clean and disinfect up to 99% of bacteria on a myriad of surfaces. It penetrates even the tiniest of pores to lift and remove unseen bacteria so that what is left behind is a truly disinfected surface. Steam cleaners can be used on almost any surface including countertops, floors, upholstery, carpet, drapery, sinks, hardware, toilets, showers, and more! Stop germs in their tracks this cold and flu season with the cleaning power of a steam cleaner.
